HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) – The first mail-order election in Hawaii has already seen a record number of voters vote.
And it’s not too late to submit yours.
Last-minute voters in Hawaii still have the option to vote ahead of Tuesday’s general election, including options at voter service centers and official ballot boxes.
According to the Election Office, all ballots must be received by the clerk’s office by 7 p.m. on polling day. Postmarks don’t count.
Voters can register on the same day for a Voter Service Center.
Although this election is done by mail, it is possible to vote in person at a voter service center. In Oahu, these centers are located in Honolulu Hale or Kapolei Hale.
Glen Takahashi, City of Honolulu clerk, said the team was not sure what to expect in terms of attendance at service centers.
“If there is a queue, be patient,” Takahashi said. “If there is, if there has to be a line, know that people are 6 feet apart. It may seem a bit longer than it actually is.
As of Monday afternoon, the city had already received nearly 340,000 ballots, which corresponds to a participation rate of about 63%.
If voters still have ballots, they can also drop them off at ballot boxes around the island. Drop boxes are locked at 7 p.m.
If you need to register to vote, state ID or government document with your name on it will be required.
