Double-digit economic growth over six months “result of a reasonable policy”
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said Friday that the double-digit economic growth of 10.5% in the first six months of 2022 was the result of the government’s “reasonable and national” policy.
Garibashvili said “this is a big exception in today’s world”.
I have frequent communications with our European leaders, our colleagues, our friends, and they are very surprised to see how little Georgia has achieved such strong economic growth. The lari continues to strengthen, all this contributes to creating more wealth in the country; business is very active, many jobs are being created, thousands of jobs, and I mean that we will support this trend as much as possible and further strengthen it,” Garibashvili said.
Georgia’s National Statistics Office released latest GDP data today which indicates that the Georgian economy grew by 7.2% in June and by 10.5% in the first six months of 2022 year-on-year.
Vakhtan Tsintsadze from the Economy Ministry said maintaining the double-digit economic growth trend is particularly important in light of the declining forecast for the global economy.
This, of course, indicates the stability of the Georgian economy against external shocks,” Tsintsadze said.
Deputy Finance Minister Mikheil Dundua said Georgia’s double-digit economic growth is the result of “our peace-oriented policy”.
