Budget 2022 LIVE: RS adjourned for the day after Nirmala Sitharaman files economic inquiry

The budget session of Parliament has started and Speaker Ram Nath Kovind addressed the joint session of the two chambers. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also tabled the economic investigation, and new Chief Economic Adviser (CEA) V Anantha Nageswaran will deliver a press conference at 3:45 p.m. during which he will discuss the investigation. . Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha has been adjourned until tomorrow (February 1).
Parliament’s budget session takes place amid the third wave of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19). Apart from this, vital parliamentary elections of five states – Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Manipur and Punjab, are also starting this month. Opposition parties are expected to bring up the issues of farmers, Pegasus spyware and the relief program for the families of Covid-19 victims, among other topics, for debate.
Sitharaman will present a paperless budget this year, continuing the tradition of last year, which was the first time the document was presented in digital form. A mobile app was also released this year for the same. The Minister of Finance will present the budget on February 1 and the first half of the session will continue on February 11. Then there will be almost a month of suspension until the second part of the budget session begins on March 14 and ends on April 8.
To ensure that social distancing norms are maintained due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Rajya Sabha will sit between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., while the Lok Sabha will sit from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
