Black Friday 2020: Which stores offer curbside pickup?
STATEN ISLAND, NY – Retailers are working to make holiday shopping safer and easier by offering curbside pickup options during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
While there are plenty of offers, some may feel uncomfortable going back to stores to shop in person, according to shopping experts at BlackFriday.com – especially since cases of coronavirus increase in New York.
Shipping delays will also likely be a concern, as retailers navigate increased online shopping volumes. BlackFriday.com expert Lisa Davis expects curbside pickup to play a big role this holiday season as it allows shoppers to avoid stores but get their orders faster than if they were shipped.
A large majority of stores will remain closed for Thanksgiving due to the pandemic, while others may not open as early as they have in recent years. In some cases, typical Black Friday times may have changed as well, so be sure to check with stores for specific times before you go.
The Staten Island Mall is offering curbside pickup during standard mall hours.
After placing an order at a participating mall store or restaurant, proceed to the retailer-specific pickup point. Once there, the parking area at the edge of the mall will have spaces labeled so you can tell the store your exact location when you arrive.
Participating stores include: Adidas, Armani Exchange, Bandstand Watches & Fine Jewelry, Barnes & Noble, Chick Fil-A, Finish Line, Gerald Peters, Goff Jewelers, Hollister Co., Lush, Pandora, Rack Room Shoes, Showcase, Sleep Number, T-Mobile , The Container Store, The Lego Store and Things Remembered.
Here’s a look at the top retailers with free contactless pickup options that you can take advantage of this holiday season.
Best buy offers a contactless curbside pickup option it’s fast, easy to use and the fastest way to get your items. Look for the “Use curbside pickup” option to confirm that the service is available in your area, then shop as you normally would online.
Same day pickup is available, as some items can be ready in as little as an hour. You will receive a confirmation email when your order is ready. Once you arrive, find the designated curbside pickup point and contact the store to let them know you’re there. Just open your safe and an associate will bring your order. Anyone picking up an order must present valid photo ID, according to Davis.
The order is held for five days.
GameStop offer free curbside pickup where you can buy online and pick up at the store door. Same day pickup is available. All you have to do is print out the ‘ready to pick up’ email and bring it with you. Call the store upon arrival and an associate will meet you at the door with the order. You pay for the order when you pick it up.
Orders are held for seven days.
Home Depot curbside pickup is available in most stores every day until 6 p.m. Most orders are ready within hours, according to Davis.
After you receive the pickup notification email, go to your Home Depot. Find a designated parking spot and enter the parking spot number and your car color in the app, or call the store. Bring valid photo ID. Orders are held for seven days.
AT Lowe’s, customers can buy online or through the mobile app to place a curbside pickup order. Same-day pickup isn’t always available, but most in-stock items may be ready for pickup within hours of placing an order.
When you receive the pickup notification email, proceed to Lowe’s location with valid photo ID and the confirmation email. Park in a designated curbside parking spot and call the store. An associate will bring your order to you, according to Davis. Orders are held for seven days.
JCPenney offer Contactless curbside pickup for customers. Orders must be placed before 3:00 p.m. for same day pickup. After receiving the confirmation email that your order is ready, proceed to your chosen JCPenney collection point.
Park in the designated curbside area and register with your vehicle color and parking spot number either online, through the app or by calling the store directly, according to Davis. An associate will place your order in your trunk or in the back seat.
Orders are held for 10 days.
Kohl’s offers a free drive-up and pop your trunk option this holiday season. Most orders can be picked up within hours, as long as the purchase is made at least two hours before the store closes.
Once you have received the withdrawal notification email, go to your Kohl’s store. Park at one of the designated curbside locations and press “I’m here” in your email or pickup card text. An associate will take out your order and place it in your trunk or in the back seat. Make sure you bring a valid photo ID.
Orders are held for seven days.
AT Macy ‘s, you can also take advantage of free curbside pickup. Same day pickup is available. Pickup is available Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Orders placed before noon are available within approximately three hours in some stores.
After you have checked online and selected a Macy’s location that offers curbside pickup, you will receive a ‘Ready for Pickup’ email, which will indicate where to pick up your order and the phone number to call when you arrive, according to Davis. An associate will bring you the order. Your order will be held for seven days.
Target’s Drive Up contactless pickup option is only available through Target’s mobile app. Most eligible items are ready within hours for pickup, and times vary by location.
You will receive a notification through the app letting you know your order is ready to be picked up. Open the app and click on “I’m on my way” and make sure you have a valid photo ID. Once you get to Target, park in a designated curbside parking spot and open the app to let an employee know about you. ve happened, according to Davis.
Add your parking space number in the app and an employee will bring your items to you.
Orders are generally held for three days.
Walmart offers a Contactless pickup which allows customers to purchase groceries and other essentials and have them delivered directly to the trunk of their car. Same-day pickup is available for orders placed before 1:00 p.m.
According to Davis, after receiving the order-ready email notification, check in through the Walmart app or call the store to let them know you’re on your way. Bring your passport photo.
Upon arrival, follow the orange signs to the pickup area and park at any designated location. Enter the parking space number and color of your car on the app’s registration screen, or call the store.
Orders are held until 8:00 p.m., or when the store closes, the same day as the scheduled pickup time.
