Alaska Airlines MVP Gold Elite 100K Status Coming in 2022
The past year has been a year of tremendous upheaval and change within the airline industry. For a time, entire fleets have been grounded, flight schedules have been decimated and passenger numbers remain depressed amid travel restrictions and ongoing border closures. One of the most interesting developments here in the United States has been the re-partnership of American Airlines and Alaska Airlines, and the announcement that the latter will join the Oneworld carrier alliance in March 2021. Now, Alaska Airlines has just revealed that it will offer a new top-tier elite status from from 2022. Here’s what we know so far about Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan MVP Gold 100K.
Qualification for Alaska MVP Gold 100K
At present, Alaska Airlines only has three elite status levels which are achieved with the following flight activity in 2021 for qualification in 2022.
MVP: Fly 20,000 miles or 30 segments on Alaska Airlines and its partners (if you are traveling with partners, you must fly at least two segments within Alaska itself)
MVP Gold: Fly 40,000 miles or 60 segments on Alaska Airlines and its partners (if you are traveling with partners, you must complete at least four segments within Alaska itself)
MVP Gold 75K: Fly 75,000 miles or 90 segments on Alaska Airlines and its partners (if you are with partners, you must fly at least six segments on Alaska itself)
Now, according to an email to Alaska MileagePlan members, the airline will launch MVP Gold 100K status for those who cover 100,000 or more playoff miles in a calendar year. There was no mention of a flight requirement on Alaska’s own flights, but this will likely require at least eight segments.
Outreach for Alaska Airlines members also included the announcement that travelers can earn 50% more qualifying miles on airline flights by June 30, 2021. So, theoretically, you could achieve MVP Gold status. 100K while flying only 67,000 miles from here to then.
Alaska Airlines MVP Gold 100K Benefits
According to the email, those who qualify for MVP Gold 100K status will receive top priority for upgrades on Alaska flights and lounge benefits. This will likely add to the perks they can already expect at MVP Gold 75K level, including:
Earn 50,000 bonus miles when qualifying for status

Two free checked bags for you and a companion on the same reservation

Appointment of another member for MVP status
It is not necessarily a reach to assume that MVP Gold 100K members could enjoy slightly improved perks, including a 150-200% bonus on miles earned and a longer upgrade window of one week. maybe rather than the five days that MVP Gold 75K enjoy. Alaska announced that its MVP Gold 75K members will also enjoy elite Oneworld Emerald status, which includes perks such as lounge access when traveling with member airlines and priority airport services, so that the same can be expected of 100K MVPs. What will be interesting to see is how exactly this new level – not to mention the other elite levels – fits into Alaska’s new partnership with American Airlines, and the priority with which the elites of the either airline will be considered for upgrades from the other, in addition to more mundane benefits like free checked baggage on each other’s flights.
Speaking of upgrades, we might even see Alaska offering MVP Gold 100Ks something similar to American Airlines system-wide upgrades – certificates that can be applied to most flights with award availability of up to. upgrade within the airline’s network of routes – and whether they could be usable on American flights as well as Alaska’s own services.
The key to making these perks attractive and qualifying for the new MVP Gold 100K level of interest to travelers will be how well Alaska will be able to reward travelers who have put in the time and money for the trip. earn, and how many benefits they will enjoy being able to expect not only on Alaska Airlines, but also with its much larger partner, American Airlines, and its extensive network of routes.
